Are you planning an activity for your school, club, Church or group? A great flyer will help will help with the publicity, and increase the attendance of your event. Flyers should include ALL the information someone needs to attend - so that no matter who has the flyer in their hand, they can feel confident about going to the activity - everyone from the most active member of the group, to a guest, to the person who is brand new, old, young, .. Don't forget to pass the flyers out everywhere you can. Enjoy your activity!

The flyer should include the following information:

  • Who (who is invited, who is the event planned for, what group)
  • what (what is the activity/event)
  • when – day of the week, date (month, day, year)
  • start and end time
  • host group – (hosted by the …)
  • where – name of building, street address, city, state, zip, phone of the location - so that anyone can mapquest the location
  • directions - how to find the location - list directions from main highway in that city
  • who to contact with questions - always list someone in charge - first name, phone # and e-mail address
  • what they need to bring, if anything (such as food item, hiking shoes, ...)
  • what to expect (if a restaurant, price range and type of food; ...)
  • description of activity
  • dress
  • cost – if any

Flyer should be:

  • attractive – use a font that is easy to read, include a graphic that is relevant
  • accurate – check the address, phone number and other information to make sure it is correct
  • proof read – make sure there are no spelling or typing errors; carefully proof read yourself, and ask several other people to proof read as well.
  • ½ sheet works well – more economical, easy to hold on to
  • White paper with black ink is usually the most economical format.
